Training
After you complete Army basic and advanced individual training, and once you enroll as a Cadet in the Corps of Cadets, you will train with the Reserve Detachment on campus. There is no need to commute back and forth to and from weekend battle assemblies (drill). Your training will be leadership developmental training that will better prepare you to become an Army officer.
The Georgia Mountain Detachment
The Georgia Mountain Detachment is responsible for planning, scheduling and executing training for Cadets at North Georgia who are Soldiers in the Army Reserve. It is also responsible to provide administrative support for the Cadets who are in the detachment. It ensures training is synchronized with the academic program and the Corps of Cadets.
Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP)
When you become a sophomore, you can sign an agreement to commission as a second lieutenant in the Army. When you do this, you become a "contracted" ROTC Cadet. Simultaneously, you are a soldier in the Reserve, entering the Simultaneous Membership Program, or SMP. Your pay and benefits jump to $1,300 per month your sophomore year, $1,400 per month your junior year, and $1,450 per month your senior year. after your senior year of high school, attend a full year of college, and then
do AIT the following summer, (3) Attend North Georgia College for one semester,
