Hall County group receives North Georgia
Community Health Award DAHLONEGA --
(June 16, 2011) – The first North Georgia Community Health Awards were
presented during a luncheon Thursday, June 9 at North Georgia College &
University. The competition was designed to recognize
outstanding initiatives from each of the seven counties served by the
Appalachian Nurse Practitioner Clinic at North Georgia College & State
University. Submitted entries were reviewed and judged on the project narrative,
the problem statement, the collaborative partnership narrative, health
promotion and education activities, the educational plan and the project
sustainability. Awards were presented to the “Date Rape Prevention
Education” program at Rape Response Inc. in Hall County, the “Summer Challenge”
program through Lumpkin County Family Connection, the “Youth for Healthy
Living” program through Towns County Family Connections and the “Substance
Abuse Prevention Project” through the Enotah Anti-Drug Coalition in White
County. The awards program was sponsored by community
partners District 2 Public Health, North Georgia College & State University
and the North Georgia Community Foundation and sponsoring businesses of Jackson
