North Georgia Outdoor Pursuits' trips are designed to give students the opportunity to see and experience new adventures in the great outdoors. Ranging from the southeastern coast and marshlands of Georgia to wilderness of North Carolina to just a few miles from campus, we have trips that will suit anyone's taste.

Hikes

Preacher's Rock

  • Date: February 18, Saturday
  • Cost: $15
  • Maximum participants: 14
  • Included: Transportation, gear, and instruction
  • Trail length: Approximately 3.0 miles
  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Payment deadline: February 17, Friday
  • You and your friends can enjoy two scenic overlooks all on the Appalachian Trail.

DeSoto Falls

  • Date: February 25, Saturday
  • Cost: $15
  • Maximum participants: 14
  • Included: Transportation, gear, and instruction
  • Trail Length: Approximately 2.4 miles
  • Difficulty: Light
  • Payment deadline: February 24, Friday
  • Spend your Saturday hiking around in our own backyard here in Lumpkin County, as we visit this beautiful three tiered waterfall. 

Blood Mountain

  • Date: March 3, Saturday
  • Cost: $15
  • Maximum participants: 14
  • Included: Transportation, gear, and instruction
  • Trail length: Approximately 5.0 miles
  • Difficulty: Medium/Hard
  • Payment deadline: February 29, Wednesday
  • The highest point on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia, Blood Mountain offers multiple vistas and wonderful rock formations. 

Appalachian Trail 

 
  • Date: March 24, Saturday
  • Cost: $15

  • Trail length: Approximately 9.2 miles
  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Payment deadline: March 21, Wednesday
  • This hike will take you from the start of the Appalachian Trail on Springer Mountain all the way to Hightower gap.

North Carolina Wilderness

 
  • Dates: March 30 - April 1, Friday - Sunday
  • Cost: TBA
  • Maximum participants: 14
  • Included: Transportation, gear, camping, and instruction
  • Trail length: Varies
  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Payment deadline: March 23, Friday
  • Prerequisite meeting: March 22, Thursday @ 1:00PM or 5:30PM 
  • Come dust off winter as you explore the backcountry of North Carolina.

  • We will head down to the Kennesaw REI for their Scratch and Dent sale. 

Alternate Spring Break: Coastal Kayaking

  • Experience coastal south Georgia as we spend the week paddling around salt marshes, giant Cypress trees, and the immense wildlife the coast has to offer.

Pine Valley

Coastal Kayaking

Locker Rentals Available!
40 lockers are now available to rent in each the men's and women's locker rooms. The cost is $15 per semester, cash and check only. Sign-up in the back offices today! Rental Agreement  
 
  Intramural Spectators:
 Non-Members can come watch Intramural Games in the Rec Center by a member submitting a request by noon the day of the game.  For more details, please see the Intramural Sports homepage.
