Mission Statement
The mission of Mountain Laurels is to publish student creative work, including literature and fine art. The magazine is a recognized student organization, published by NGCSU students, for NGCSU students. It is the only campus publication that showcases visual and written student art.
Honors Conference
Intended as a way to honor our students, the magazine release date coincides with the Honors Conference at the beginning of April. In addition, we honor individual students for “Best in Art,” and “Best in Literature” at the Mountain Laurels conference session.
Sponsoring Mountain Laurels
Mountain Laurels is dependent on the generosity of individuals from the campus and community. Now more than ever, with budget cuts and reduced funding for the arts, we rely on loyal supporters like you to help us continue to publish. In addition, we are looking for opportunities to collaborate fundraising events, and would welcome suggestions.
If you would like to contribute to the mission of Mountain Laurels, please contact the Mountain Laurels faculty advisors, Dr. Amy Childers Mansfield, Dept. of English (achilders@northgeorgia.edu) or Dr. Jon Mehlferber, Dept. of Visual Arts (jon.mehlferber@northgeorgia.
