Department of Nursing

School of Science & Health Professions

North Georgia College & State University (NGCSU) Department of Nursing faculty are committed to being nurse leaders involved in the national initiative to improve the quality of health care recommended in the Institute of Medicine (IOM) report entitled “The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health”.  All three programs of study are designed to develop proficiency in nursing knowledge and skills through which caring will flourish.  Students have the opportunity to draw upon some of the most creative, qualified professional faculty in nursing and other related disciplines. In harmony with the college’s mission, the nursing faculty is committed to excellence in teaching, research, clinical practice and professional service.

The Department of Nursing provides career mobility by offering the following degrees:

All of these programs are accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission - 3343 Peachtree Rd, NE, Suite 500, Atlanta, GA 30326   404-671-0052.

Because North Georgia is one of six senior military colleges in the United States, the nursing department is designated as a Partner in Nursing Education with the U.S. Army and our program proudly includes cadets who are pursuing a nursing education.  We are proud of the leadership legacy of NGCSU and we look forward to working with you to develop your skills as a nurse and as a leader. As stated by Ralph Waldo Emerson, we encourage our students and graduates to “not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail”. We want to work with each of you to become trailblazers. Welcome. This is a “great place” to be a nursing student.

Dr. Dianne Nelson,
