Student honored at symposium
(Oct. 10, 2011)   -   Alden Ryno, shown with his poster "DFT Benchmarking of Benzobisazoles," was awarded an honorable mention that included a one-year membership to the American Chemical Society during the 6th Herty Medalist Undergraduate Research Symposium (HMURS), held Sept. 16 at Morehouse College in Atlanta. Ryno is mentored by Dr. Aimee Tomlinson. Four faculty members and eight students from North Georgia attended the symposium.  Other North Georgia students presenting were Zachary Husk, Matthew Jones and Patrick Pickens, all mentored by Dr. Holly Carpenter Desai. A grand prize and several honorable mentions are presented during the poster session.
