Shantytown Fundraiser
(Oct. 7, 2011)   -   The university's Habitat for Humanity held its annual Shantytown fundraiser Sept. 28-29 on the drill field. Groups purchased building sites and building supplies to erect cardboard homes to spend the night on the field. In addition to the money raised from the event, the Lumpkin County and North Georgia Habitat chapters received several grants totaling $5,000 this year to make minor repairs to area homes. Grants were $1,000 each from United Way of Hall County and Amicalola EMC and $3,000 from Jackson EMC.
