The third Southeastern Air Rifle Conference tournament took
place Nov. 6 at the Civilian Marksmanship Program's South range in Anniston,
Ala.
Kostecki's score of 571 out of 600 tied her with Winston
Dorian from The Citadel. Her strong finish of 98 of 100 topped Winston's 95 to
earn Kostecki the win in the field of 47 individuals from seven universities.
The team competition was very close, with the top four teams
posting scores that varied by less than 2 percent of the possible team total of
2,400 points. North Georgia, with 2,232 points, placed third behind winner The
Citadel with 2,265 points and second-place North Carolina State University with
2,243 points.
North Georgia bested teams from Wofford College, Georgia
Military College and Mercer University. In addition to Kostecki, North Georgia students
Breanna Kasl, Matt Parsons, Becca Bryan and Philip Skidmore also participated
in the team competition. Skidmore, a first-year walk on, posted a personal best
score of 527 out of 600 in the match.
This Saturday, North Georgia travels to Wofford College in
Spartanburg, S.C., for the league's next tournament.
