The Southeastern Air Rifle Conference tournament was held
Nov. 13 at Wofford College. North Carolina State University, an NCAA Division I
team, took first place in the team competition. North Georgia finished ahead of
conference rivals Clemson University, Wofford College and Georgia Military
College.
All North Georgia team members placed in the top 20 in
individual competition. Tori Kostecki, team captain and coach, and Cadet
Matt Parsons both finished sixth. Cadet Breanna Kasl finished 10th and Becca
Bryan and Marcus Paul both finished 16th.
Kostecki praised the improvements made by new team members Bryan
and Paul.
"Becca started her rifle career at North Georgia as a
walk-on. She has progressed very well and continues to be a strong contributor
to the team both as an athlete and as a leader," Kostecki said. "New
walk-on Marcus Paul is progressing rapidly and posted a personal best to finish
16th overall."
Competition resumes in January with the second half of the Southeastern
Air Rifle Conference schedule, intercollegiate sectionals, and qualifiers for
the university club teams' national championships.
