Georgia Army National Guard Partnership Program

You can be a full-time student at North Georgia, participate in the Corps of Cadets, take Army ROTC courses, and be a soldier in the Georgia Army National Guard all at the same time!

We are the only university in Georgia with an Army National Guard unit that trains on campus. Our unique partnership with the Georgia Army National Guard allows you to take advantage of the many financial benefits of being a soldier in the Guard, while being a full-time Cadet.

There are many benefits!

  • Get paid monthly for one weekend of training and two weeks in the summer.
  • Use the pay and benefits you earn from the Guard, the Veteran's Administration, the State of Georgia and Army ROTC,  to pay most of your college bills!
  • Participate in a world-class leadership development and education program complemented by the training programs of the National Guard, making you extremely marketable to employers after graduation.
  • Earn a commission as a second lieutenant in the Georgia Army National Guard or the Regular Army when you graduate.
  • Train with the Guard Detachment on campus. You will not need to commute to drill!
  • You will receive $337 per month tax free Montgomery GI Bill for every month you are in college as a full-time student. Depending on your military occupational specialty (MOS), you may be eligible to receive a "kicker" to the GI Bill up to an additional $350 per month.
  • Enlistment Bonus - Up to $10,000 (depending on needs of the Guard).
  • Tuition Assistance - The Guard will pay up to $4,500 per year for your tuition and fees.  Tuition assistance can be used as a "second payer" to the HOPE.

ARNG LogoWhy the Georgia Army National Guard?

The history of the National Guard goes back more than 360 years - before there was a "United States of America." In the face of danger, the farmers, doctors, and blacksmiths of the Massachusetts Bay Colony banded together to protect their families and property. The concept of the citizen-soldier was born. Ever since, citizen-soldiers have helped write the history of America.

Today, more than 350,000 men and women continue the tradition of the citizen-soldier as members of the Army National Guard. Peace... Disaster... Conflict... the Georgia National Guard is there. No matter the situation, you can always count on the Guard to be there for the citizens of the state and nation. Proud of their dual mission, the guard serves the Governor during peace, disaster, and local civil unrest; while in time of conflict, the Guard serves the President.
