I began working for North Georgia after retiring from 20 years of service in the US Army as an infantry officer. My Army
assignments included nearly 19 years of hazardous duty in various
Airborne and Ranger units. My last assignment in the Army was the commander of the Mountain Phase of the US Army Ranger School in Dahlonega,
Georgia. I was inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame in 2009. See video. I also serve as the Honorary Colonel of the Ranger Training Brigade.
I am a 1981 graduate of the Army ROTC program at the University
of Connecticut, and I have a Masters Degree from the Naval War College. My job is to recruit young men and women who are scholar/athlete/leaders into the Corps of Cadets - The Boar's Head Brigade.

I am a second-generation graduate of North
Georgia College & State University. I graduated in 2003 with
a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. As a daughter of a retired
Army officer, I have had the pleasure of traveling and living in
many different parts of the world. I am married to Brian Smith,
also a graduate of North Georgia College & State University.

Nathan P. Turk Second Lieutenant, Georgia Army National Guard Assistant Director of Cadet Admissions
I am a 2010 Distinguished Military Graduate from North Georgia College &
State University and commissioned into the Georgia Army National Guard as an
Infantry Officer. As a Georgia Military Scholarship recipient, I had a great experience
in the Corps of Cadets and served in multiple leadership positions, both in the Corps
and on campus. I am currently working for Cadet Admissions as the Assistant
Director for Operations and Finance. As the Assistant Director, I am
responsible for the day to day operations in the Cadet Admissions Office.
I currently serve as an Infantry Platoon Leader in
the Georgia Army National Guard; I am also a graduate of the U.S. Army's
Ranger School, Airborne School, and Air Assault School.

Bob Sayle Captain, Army National Guard Recruiting Operations Officer
I’ve been working here at NGCSU since December 2010
and love living in the Dahlonega area. I graduated from Mississippi State
University as an Agricultural Economics major and completed ROTC training
there. Now, I'm the Recruiting Operations Officer for North Georgia
and I'm located at the Cadet Admissions Office. If you would like to know
more about becoming an officer in the U.S. Army, the ROTC program here at North
Georgia College, scholarships available, contracting as a Cadet, or JLEAD please

Some things I’ve enjoyed doing in my 12 year military
career include Airborne School, Cadet Troop Leading Training for one month in
Germany, being an Armor officer and tank platoon leader, serving as an
agricultural development officer in Iraq, returning to LDAC as a Platoon TAC
Officer in 2011 (I was a Cadet myself the last time I went), and more. I also

Mervin Watford Sergeant First Class Army Reserve Liaison
I'm the Army Reserve Liaison at North Georgia. I've been in the US
Army Recruiting Command for the past 6 years. During this period, I was
assigned to the Crown Heights Recruiting Station in Brooklyn, New York and the
Woodstock Recruiting Station in Woodstock, Georgia. Prior to serving in Recruiting Command, I was
a member of the 450th Ordinance Company (ammunition storage and handling) in
Aiken, South Carolina and served as (91B) wheel vehicle mechanic and (89B)
ammunition specialist. My military awards and decorations include the
Meritorious Serve Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, four Army Achievement
Medals, four Good Conduct Medals, and the Glenn E. Morales Award of Excellence.

Madison Bips Second Lieutenant, Georgia Army National Guard Assistant Recruiting Operations Officer
I am a 2010 graduate of North Georgia College & State University. I graduated with a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Leadership. I commissioned into the Georgia Army National Guard where I serve as a Platoon Leader in the 179th Military Police Company. I am currently working for Cadet Admissions as the Assistant Recruiting Operations Officer.
