"I wouldn't take all the gold dug out of the hills of Dahlonega for the experiences and the quality of education I have seen my son receive during the past 3 years."
-Faith Wheeler, North Georgia Cadets Parents Association Past President
Being a Cadet at North Georgia is more than simply being a college student. As a Cadet, you receive world-class leadership development and education from the first day you arrive until the day you graduate. You will train to become an effective leader in either the military, government, or civilian sector.
Freshman YearYour leadership training will revolve around personal development, followership, and peer leadership. As a Cadet private in the Corps of Cadets, you will have very little leadership responsibility which enables you to focus on your studies. To succeed at North Georgia you must forge a strong academic foundation during this crucial first year. Academic success, physical fitness, and an aptitude for leadership and responsibility will be the framework for future positions of leadership in the Corps of Cadets. |

Sophomore YearYour leadership education focuses on leading a small team of four to five freshmen Cadets as a team leader, or a squad of nine to ten Cadets as a squad leader. In these positions you will be completely responsible for the development, academic success, physical fitness, and well being of each Cadet in your squad or team. Freshmen Cadets will rely on your knowledge, professionalism, and expertise to guide them through their freshman year. |
|
Junior YearMiddle-management-level leadership education is the focus. You will become a Cadet platoon sergeant, company first sergeant, or sergeant major. You will be responsible for training, teaching and mentoring freshmen and sophomores on basic military skills and leadership. |
|
Senior YearSeniors are the upper-level leaders in the Corps of Cadets. Seniors command platoons (30 Cadets), companies (75 Cadets), battalions (250 Cadets), or the brigade (800+ Cadets)! As a senior you plan all the activities for the Corps of Cadets and ensure that North Georgia continues to offer the finest ROTC training in the nation. |

Diversity in the Corps of Cadets |
39 Army generals have graduated from our Corps of Cadets. We produce outstanding officers for the Army and leaders for government and businesses.
North Georgia is in a stunning, beautiful location. We're in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains adjacent to the Chattahoochee National Forest. North Georgia's hometown, Dahlonega, is a small, quaint and historic mountain town that is visited by 350,000 tourists each year, and is the site of the first major gold rush in the United States. |
"As we continue to carve out our special niche in Georgia as a Senior Military College, it is the people, the relationships, and the campus atmosphere that will continue to set North Georgia College & State University apart from other institutions." - Laura D. Whitaker-Lea, Dean of Students |
Cadets are encouraged to become well-rounded individuals. We are listed in Templeton's Guide as an institution that promotes character development. It is our philosophy that well-rounded Cadets make the best leaders. For this reason, Cadets are encouraged to become involved in campus activities such as intramural sports, clubs, student government, fraternities and sororities, or any of the other number of extra-curricular activities offered on campus. Check out out the co-curricular military organization page for more information on our specialty units. http://www.northgeorgia.edu/cadetorganizations/

These skills include advanced problem-solving and decision-making, written and verbal communication, project management, time management, and other leadership skills. Additionally, the Leadership Minor offered to Cadets will equip you with character-building and leadership traits that further enhance your marketability.
