Intramural Sports Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get involved?

The easiest way to get involved in team sports is to form a team on your own (you and a couple friends, perhaps the hall of your dorm, or the neighbors in your apartment complex). Student organizations such as fraternities and sororities as well as other campus groups often put together teams. To find out how many players you'll need for a complete team, browse through the sport's rules, available online.

Help! I don't have a team or need more players what do I do?

Players in need of teams have two available options to get on a team. First, register via the Vista Request Form to be added to the North GA IM Sports Registration page. Here you will find discussion forums where you can post your information and teams can get in contact with you. Another option, is to fill out the North GA Intramural Free Agents Form. From this form, teams will be able to view your information and contact you; or prior to registration, the IM Sports department will create a Free Agents team if there is enough interest. Teams wishing to see available Free Agents can check here.

How do I register?

Once you've got a team together, you'll need to register. So, when you do register? Well, each sport falls within a Phase of sports and has its own registration period. To find out when that is, check our IM Sports Planner for each semester. The Sports Planner is available online prior to each semester’s start so you'll have plenty of time to plan for upcoming sports. The registration form is now available online, just fill in the blanks and submit electronically. Only one person for your team will need to register your team. Rosters are not required at the time of registration, but we do advise making sure you have enough players to make a full team plus substitutes.

What if my team is playing multiple sports?

There is a team manager meeting at the beginning of each semester that will cover the rules for every sport that semester as well as eligibility requirements for your players, and other IM policies and procedures. Have someone from your team attend this meeting and you will be exempt from all the captains meetings that semester unless your team no-shows out of a sport. The team manager meeting will last 2 hours and must be attended in full.

What is the ID Policy?

You must bring your Saints Card to your first game for each sport to sign in the game. Once you are on the roster, you may bring any government photo ID. NO ID, NO PLAY. A valid Saints Card is required to enter the Rec Center, no exceptions.

Where can I find the Rules?

Rules for each sport can located on our Sport's Rules Page; General rules and policies for Intramural Sports can be found in our IM Handbook.

When can teams add people to their roster?

Teams can add to their roster up until noon the day of the Championship Game. Players may be added by presenting their Saints Card at the field/court or by coming up to the Recreational Sports Office and seeing the Intramural Director.

How are the sports broken down into leagues?

Men’s Leagues: Corps, Fraternity, Men’s Open
Women’s Leagues: Sorority, Women’s Open
CoRec: Only one division (Teams are comprised of both men and women; rules vary slightly; not available for all sports)

Can I play on more than one team?

You may play on ONE single gendered team in either the men’s or women’s league and ONE team in the CoRec League, if offered, for each sport. You may not play on 2 men’s/women’s teams, 2 CoRec teams, or on a men’s and women’s team. To be considered a CoRec Team, it must be in a specified CoRec League.

Whne is Game Time?

Game time is forfeit time. You must have your team signed in and ready to go at your scheduled game time so arrive early.

Does Intramural Sports cost anything?

No, Intramural Sports are offered as a part of your Student Activity Fee.

My team wants to win it all. Does the IM Office schedule practice times?

Since you're forming your own teams, you also coordinate your own practices. Practice as much or as little as you want, but Intramural Sports does NOT schedule timesor spaces for teams to practice. Outdoor field space is VERY limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Am I eligible to play?

A student must be currently enrolled at NGCSU and have paid their student activity fee to be eligible for Intramural competition. See the IM Handbook for more eligibility rules.

Where can I find the rest of the policies and procedures for Intramurals at North Georgia?

The IM Handbook contains all our policies and procedures.
