XI.  Yearly Awards

Team Awards
Each year the NGCSU Intramural Sports Department will recognize the top Men’s, Women’s, and CoRec teams.

  • Teams must use the same team name in each sport to be eligible. 

  • CoRec team points will not count for any organization playing in the single-gendered leagues. 

Major Sports Points
Major Sports include: flag football, basketball, softball, and volleyball.

1st Place 10 Points 
2nd Place 7 Points
3rd Place 5 Points
4th Place 3 Points
All Others

2 Points


All-Campus Championship Standings
Champion 10 Points 
Runner-Up 7 Points
Final 4 5 Points
Elite 8 3 Points
All Others 2 Points

Minor Sports Points
Minor Sports are those other than major sports.  Points will be awarded as follows:

Single-Elimination Tournament
Champion 10 Points 
Runner-Up 7 Points
Final 4 5 Points
Made Tournament 3 Points
Participated 2 Points

Double-Elimination Tournament
Champion 10 Points 
Runner-Up 7 Points
3rd Place 5 Points
1+ Wins 3 Points
Participated 2 Points

Sports Officials Points

Teams may receive three points for each official they have officiate flag football or basketball (Limit 9 points per sport).  Teams may receive two points for each official they have work a semi-final or championship game in flag football or basketball (Limit 6 points per sport). 

Ties in Point Standings
If two teams are tied in points, the average of their sportsmanship rating for each sport will be the tie-breaker (no penalty for not participating in a sport). 

Intramural Sports Most Valuable Player Awards
The Recreational Sports Department will recognize the best male and female athlete in each major sport offered.

  • The athlete will receive an individual award for being recognized as the MVP. 
  • The athlete must exhibit good sportsmanship throughout the season to be considered for the MVP award.
